Just imagine not ever having to worry about having another attack, wouldn't that increase your confidence and make it less likely you'd even have another attack?
There are a lot of techniques out there that can help you take the reigns during a panic attack, but the one we're going to focus on for the moment is called EFT or Emotional Freedom Techniques.
The short version of EFT is that it is a systematic method of tapping key meridian points in the body to released trapped energy and restore your body to balance. It has also been described as "acupuncture without the needles." It's a routine of tapping these certain points and repeating an affirmation to yourself as you go along.
If that doesn't make much sense, don't worry. A quick Google search will give you all the information you need to know and some free techniques to get your started. EFT isn't complicated to perform, but it's something that's better explained by seeing it done than by reading about it.
Now using EFT to control a panic attacks is a relatively simple thing. The hard part is keeping calm enough to remember what to do, so I recommend that you practice your EFT session as often as possible until the routine becomes second nature.
Once you recognize that what you're feeling is the beginning of a panic attack, start tapping the proper meridian points and repeating your mantra.
Don't worry too much about skipping steps or doing everything in the right order. At first, just focus on the tapping and giving yourself a positive affirmation. And remember that one round of tapping isn't going to do it so keep repeating until your start to feel your old self again.
While tapping isn't an instant method for curing panic attacks, you should feel a little bit better with every round of taps you complete. Now that also means that this might not be the best technique for people who find their panic attacks happening more in public places or while driving.
